Description

The Empyrean religion is polytheistic but not egalitarian: the law is ordered from Ammonar. His day is a solar day in the region’s calendar; one such day is recorded as passing under unceasing rain at the end of winter.

His plate shows his statue: colossal on its pedestal, the winged disc above, torch raised and the tablet of the law in the other hand, flanked by eagle and griffin. A cataract of solid light pours down the stairway, dissolving what lies in it, while priests at the sides do not intervene.

Role

Ammonar grounds the Empyrean doctrine of cremation (hay que trascender, “one must transcend”): what the earth retains, light undoes. His cult meets that of Calefa in funerary work; one doctor of the clinicians devoted to the inquisition is a priest of both.

On the frontier he has a temple in Dreist Ar-Boud, the last village before the wasteland, and a young paladin of his travels up the Blackwater, where beastmen haunt the roads and barrows hold the unburned dead.

Relationships

  • Ianna — Empyrean pair: war under the sign of duality.
  • Istreus — Empyrean pair: knowledge.
