The Arno is a river running through the center of Florence and part of the travel route. Timber comes down it from the forests to the city, and islets in its channel allow camping. Near Nobis Krug it has a small port. In the cold season it is recorded as half frozen.

Conflicting accounts

  • A low-confidence record speaks of a river called “the mighty Arno” as a tributary reaching the port of Genoa.

Open questions

  • Whether this is a second Arno, a long branch, or the same name on two channels is not resolved.
