In Antiterra
The drow have exceptional vigor and understanding. They see at night in infrared colors, eyes turning ruby, and suffer under daylight. A Dark World magic precedes them, canceling dark vision and darkening the view. They worship the power of the spider and believe their goddess is a spider who will come in the darkness, like Fenrir.
Males are recruited into “physical squadrons”, where they are castrated. A low-reliability rumor holds that whoever fails an examination becomes a monstrous spider-being. The Silk Road entry names them.
In Vala
An elven race born of “a horrendous hybridization” between the oldest lineage of the elves and the knowledge of demons. A drow may take “pride in their culture and ancestral practices” yet seek someone to blame for its corruption; Sardeborn, of unclear identity, bears that accusation. “This is the realm, the world of the Drow”: enclaves in the Underdark, a ciphered language, guardians at the gate, and open trade on the surface with whoever brings the code.
- Females “are larger than males”.
- They live at least 1500 years. One, “about 1500”, says “time keeps skipping”; whether racially, individually or otherwise is unknown.
- Twin drow guardians in the Underdark are linked astrologically to Gemini; facing them, one “will finish both guardians at the same time”.
- A damaged account mentions a drider-to-drow conversion (rumor).
The language of drinks. Dealing with them requires a written ciphered code that hides meanings in drink names: whisky is betrayal from behind, champagne is visual deception (“Whisky is a slap in the back, champagne is a mist before my eyes”). It reportedly alludes to the cinema of another era. Its key formula: «cuando esperás el dagaso por la espalda, la recibís por la frente» (“when you expect the stab in the back, you get it in the front”); dagaso means a treacherous attack from the unwatched side.
Routes and trades. The nearest Drow Enclave is “a few days” from Caldero, “not three hours”. The Drow Ranger is a woman trained with a blade from “age 5 or 6”, a flayer of creatures.
Open questions
- What are enclaves like inside, and what do the drow trade?
- How large is the code, who administers it, and what befalls one who misuses it?
- Who is accused of the corruption, and is Sardeborn connected with Born Kilzec?
- Appearance and the spelling of dagaso are unrecorded or uncertain.
