In Antiterra
Dragons certainly exist in Antiterra; most else is fragmentary. They are recorded by colors — red, green, black, and in one count five colors, each tied to one of the five houses. They are mountable as vehicles, devourers of corpses in a vision, and guardians associated with the structure of an underground prison. A whole world is said to have been partly dominated by them. For hundreds of years no dragons had appeared; lately things related to them have returned, including local dragons and red shadow dragons.
Conflicting accounts
- One tradition makes them personifications of Satan.
- Another counts them as enemies of the devils.
- A company made a pact with some dragons to free them from the slavery of Tiamat.
In Vala
In Vala riders mount and fly them; there are hatchlings as well as adults, multiple colors (blue ones are recorded) and even talk of space dragons. Their hides are worn as clothing or ornament, and dragons in stone or flesh guard or adorn the gates of the concentric city. They are a major danger to the city of Ur; at least two were defeated in the battle of Kardan Xairas.
Some feel a responsibility to intervene to keep the Cosmos from being disturbed. There is an ancient pact between the Sortians (the theosophists) and the dragons, and in Terra and Antiterra they had a “strange” relationship with mortals. At least one is said to dwell over the heights of Ardis Vala, possibly identified as Castor and Nanni — two names for one dragon, or two dragons.
