In Antiterra

Devils in Antiterra make pacts with city rulers and can be summoned to make pacts; at least one promise made to devils can be claimed if its terms are broken. They dominate people, damn their souls and actively interfere with the world’s inhabitants. A peace treaty, known only by rumor, would regulate their presence in secret organizations: if they keep its terms, they may operate.

They live in the southern regions, where some show detectable “greater auras of evil”; others wait at the gates of hell; they took part in the defense of Jerusalem (on which side is not stated). They ally with factions in conflict, and one company of chroniclers counts them among its irreconcilable enemies. A list of devils is associated with the Devil’s Press; many of those listed are enemies of that same press.

In Vala

In Vala devils are infernal creatures that torture people and capture souls: in the distillation pits they are seen carrying souls down, and some take the form of mist to lurk. The souls of dead children, degraded, seem to them not common larvae but something greater, with potential, and so they take them. In Uruk the Blue they are political actors, woven into vassalages and contracts. A chronicler of the Caldero notes, hesitantly, that the number thirteen belongs to them and that they would be “forms of ancient creations”.
