Xul Solar is the boldest occultist of the Buenos Aires circle of 1922 in Cthulhu Buenos Aires: a painter, inventor of languages (neocriollo, panlengua) and of an astrological chess. Having learned Crowley’s rites, he wants to surpass the master.

History
Learning that the University holds a copy of the Necronomicon, he persuades his friend Borges, the only one able to read its Latin, to obtain it. He drives the rite to Hastur: with Borges he sets up monoliths at the Ocampo estate and leads the ceremony with six young artist-occultists. The rite opens a vision of Carcosa, wounds Beatriz’s arm and spreads madness. When the circle breaks, Xul takes the book and disappears; neither Borges nor Victoria Ocampo knows where. The book never returns to the shelf; decades later its absence lets the southern horror take root in Buenos Aires. The Holy Sect of the Blind covets it.
