Third Circle (Gluttony) is the third circle of the Dantean Hell in the Descent.
Description
- A swamp under a permanent rain of human excretions: teeth, nails, balls of fat, foul substances, half-digested food. The muddy ground slows movement.
- Oil pits smoke across the landscape.
- “Distilleries” where devils break down the souls of gluttons to make “powerful dyes”, which are carried to the city of Dis.
- The damned are those of excess: not only food but also drink and substances.
- Guardian: Cerberus, of triple bark.
- Climate: a concentrated blizzard that exhausts to the point of collapse.
Role
Faction A crosses it only partly. The Tempestari send them back to the second circle. Cerberus is heard but not fought directly.
