Teletos is the messenger-emblem of Louis XV, the child king of France. He appears in the Paris of 1717 on a platform-carriage drawn by bulls that armor themselves in metal as they advance.
The offer
He brings the royal offer to Les Libertateurs: Louisiana and Versailles. The whole Mississippi is offered as a land of pardon, with the companions as the king’s adelantados (advance agents).
The offer ties in with the choice of the Taurus platform, which the group considers fixing over Louisiana “so that the American Revolution can be seen from the bayou”. See Paris (1717) and the Mississippi, the future Taurus platform.
