The planorcos (plane-orcs) are the planar branch of the old orc blood: lost tribes, mercenary bands and whole lineages that crossed a portal and learned to live on the other side. “Just as humans got into places, these got into planes.”

Description
Not raiding savages but hard people settled in the open of the multiverse: sewn hides, helmets with frost on the rivets, well-kept bows, shifts of guard, and the melancholy discipline of soldiers for others. Their figure: two meters ten of hides and frosted armor, visor down with only the eyes showing, an honest greatsword resting in the snow.
History
The company found them occupying the Temple of the Ice, a frontier post in the endless war of cold and fire, warming themselves with fire beetles and digging trenches as their trade requires. They fought well and lost better: once the fight was decided they negotiated their withdrawal, returned what they had taken and carried off their dead. They left a warning: “they asked us not to disturb below — there is still something below; the howl.” Who asked them was never asked in time.
Frederick the mailork — visor of iron, cheekbones too fine for so much orc, a half-breed with the sad intelligence of those who always speak for others — negotiated, and named his fallen so they would not wholly die: Otka, Crexi, Loh, Shook, Tomic. South of their plains, they said, lies the Black Moorah, the black marsh.
