Melania is the lover of Miranda: a “girl with caramel-flavored skin who turned every afternoon into romps and purring.” Miranda calls her “kitten” (gatita).
She appears in the chapter “Miranda and Melania” as Miranda’s stable erotic partner, while Pablo is the stormy relationship; she lives with Miranda. She is described as “very thick, and so slender, contracted.” In the theatrical version she is a character with lines.
The triangle Miranda–Pablo–Melania is a narrative axis of Pablo and Miranda (final edition and a draft). See also Pablo Casas (Torregrises).
