Marion leads the rival band that carries the red and green serpent seeds to the sunken temple in Mexico to hatch them — the dark counterpart of the gold and silver dragon eggs of the Deep Ones.

Description
Short, hair dyed blond, with a hand crossbow and a shield engraved with poker cards and blades — “like Perdita Durango, but Mexica” — speaking a mixed, brash English, with five rifles covering her from the mist. Beside her, barely glimpsed, is a tattooed assassin who comes out of the fog like a ninja, strikes and vanishes.
History
After the shootout, the parley took place on her ground: she and her sniper sunbathed with tequila on the temple’s battlemented roof, and she invited Ariel to climb a rope “to prove he has balls”. Her band, too, had been “sent”: someone paid them without saying what they carried. To her, the Deep Ones were just “scruffy people after a treasure”.
Role
The Cakravartin declared the enemies the group’s “carbon copy, an exact negative” — not their moral opposites: “they are simply doing a job”. Marion is the first appearance of a motif that runs through the whole cycle: the shadow one fights is oneself.
