Pentacular Wood (Contained Vampire Stake) is an ancient, dark piece of wood, about 60–70 cm long and marked with grain and symbols, that served as a magical containment anchor. It was originally driven into a stone pedestal inside a pentagram. It is a symbol of historical Templar heresy (the 14th-century accusation of Baphomet worship).

History

Psychometry by Michel revealed that it is a stake that impaled a vampire, and that a goat’s head (Baphomet) was once impaled on it. Pentacular symbols ringed it as a sealing ritual. It was under the control of an infraplanar creature, possibly the Minotaur as guardian-slave.

It kept an extraplanar creature sealed; removing it releases the seal, with unknown consequences. After the Day of the False Master the group secured it and Michel keeps it. The initial assault on the Temple was thus an attempt to free the contained creature.
