Kakel Angal is a witch, a local legend of Baton Rouge. “Kakel” means laughter. She killed her husband, a drunken dockworker, with a sickle or butcher’s cleaver, and was burned for the crime. According to the legend she survived, as a spirit or a lingering presence.
