History
She was adopted at five by a man in frail health, who later married her to a hard husband; under him she developed her agility, stealth and discretion. She was widowed at an unrecorded date. She found happiness with eleven orphans, her gamines, to whom she was at times mother and at times a fellow child. During her long absence they were confined to a hospice on the outskirts of Paris, and recovering them is her main aim. Encounters with forces beyond the mortal did not deter her.
