The Sucronic Golden Thread is a chronomantic device fired from a flare pistol: a very fine golden thread rises into the clouds, and whoever fires it is carried to another time — not of his choosing but one the cosmos chooses for him.

Description
A hooded figure, back turned, raises a flare pistol to a stormy sky. A straight, impossibly thin golden thread rises from the barrel and is lost in the clouds; the air around the operator trembles as the jump begins. Behind: city ruins, a broken tower, an old clock on the ground, left behind when the operator departs. “It is not magic that is offered. It is fired. Whoever fires it leaves the time he was in.” One thread per flare.
