The Sphere of Zygomind is an artifact of Constantinople in 1055: a blown-glass globe holding living fungus, the entity Zygomind confined within.

Description
- The globe stands on a bronze base with three claw feet. Puffs of pale spores float suspended in the gas inside.
- It is sealed with several layers of lacquered wax. Each layer was applied by a different priest, with his own seal, at a different time.
- Smaller copies are kept at the imperial ports (The Byzantine Galley).
Zygomind
Zygomind is a fungal entity of pre-organic nature: not animal, not entirely plant, but memory distributed in spores. Its appearances in Constantinople in 1055 coincide with the last weeks of Empress Zoe.
Open questions
- Whether Zygomind killed Zoe or only witnessed her death is not decided.
