Dual / Sáenz Premiado is a character of the Crown of the North cycle: an Andalusian Spaniard turned adopted Cherokee, a missionary by vocation. About 40 years old, he serves as quartermaster, providing food and water through miracles.

Not to be confused with Dual Magic, the cosmological fire stolen by Paulus from the pantheon. Dual is a companion of the Crown of the North who bears that name.

Background

  • As a child he worked miracles (creating water, multiplying food).
  • He cured the blindness of a Cherokee leader and married the leader’s daughter. His wife is a matrilineal leader of the clan.
  • He carries a Spanish rapier and multi-plate leather armor.

Role

A skilled diplomat, he unblocks impossible negotiations. At the Boarding of the Dutchman on the Moon he opens the crucial parley with the Captain of the Flying Dutchman; without his intervention the boarding would have ended in a massacre. He offers the minotaur a peace pipe and a rosary.

Connections: the Captain of the Dutchman, the minotaurs, Medawin.
