Caliyanis are four-eyed, six-legged reptiloid beings found in a stone chamber underground: a closed civilization of magistrates and consortiums armed with technology, psionics and a disintegrating attack.
| Type | Creature (civilization) |
| Habitat | Underground stone chambers |
| Variant name | Kaliya |
| Spanish entry | Caliyanis |
Description
“Some four-eyed reptiloid beings, crawling”: they move by crawling on six legs. The middle legs are clumsy; the others manipulate and carry things. They lay eggs. Each end of the body must be moistened regularly because the organism requires it. They were found in “a horrid stone chamber”; “they are the little we have seen”.
Society
They hold “a whole hierarchy we do not understand, of magistrates, of consortiums”. They keep records: “they too have ways of keeping divinations”. They perform horrid ritual dances and are vain. They like Arcanum.
Arsenal
They go “dressed with a certain technology” and carry “a kind of firing tube”. They have psionics and an attack that disintegrates matter: «¡Te desintegra!» (“It disintegrates you!”).
Fate
A later account says they were destroyed: “they also destroyed some reptiloid beings, remember? The Caliyanis.” Only a fragment of their chambers was seen.
Conflicting accounts
- One account makes them subterranean creatures born of the stone they inhabit.
- Another calls them “extraterrestrial Caliyanis”, without explanation.
Open questions
- Size, color, sound and smell are not recorded.
- How magistrates and consortiums relate, and how much a magistrate commands, is unknown.
- Whether they consume, trade or fuel their weapons with Arcanum is not stated.
- Whether the disintegration comes from the tube, the mind or the flesh is unresolved.
- Who destroyed them, when, and whether the whole species or only an outpost fell are not recorded.
