Alí Másquina is an efrit, the guardian of the orange tower of the Castle of the Prism.
The efrit appears as a turbaned figure sitting on the floor of an Arab-style residence (cushions, argile, a small round table). The trial it sets is one of responsibility, not combat: it asks the companion to take charge of Atropal Matt, a baby-fetus. Asked “Who is its father?”, it answers: “It is Arian.”
