Yog-Sothoth, the Gate and the Key, is a dark power at the center of the universe that dwells in the interstices of the planes. It cannot enter Antiterra, because the world is closed.

Description
It appears “as a conglomerate of iridescent globes, always fluctuating”, “sometimes 10 meters in diameter, sometimes 750 or more”, and its presence drives people mad. A separate Avatar of Yog-Sothoth exists, which the companions have faced; they were told, “You have already been observed directly.”
Nature
There is only one. It can “travel through the planes to any time and space” except Antiterra, where the closing of the world stopped it and “the forces that also wanted to get in here”. It cannot reach the world’s gem. There it acts only through its avatar and worshipers.
It does not rule the plane of dreams; it is “one of the entry points of possibles into this reality”, a threshold opening and closing paths between planes. Mages and witches chiefly worship it; for offerings it grants seeing and traveling other planes and “the power to command various monsters from distant worlds”; in return “a path is opened for it to travel to Earth”.
Role in Antiterra
Devils trapped in the world want to summon and free it to destroy everything. Four defenses stand against it: the closing of the world; the Platforms, which “can make this place the prison of that entity”; the gem; and the “cosmic ruling” (fallo cósmico): “make that cosmic ruling and cast out Yog-Sothoth”. Placing the devils’ guardians in the Platforms would make the summoning unstoppable. If angered, “it eats everything”.
Conflicting accounts
- One version: “they cannot enter” and the entity can be encapsulated. Another: “it is a fact, it is a reality, it’s done, it cannot be stopped”, without saying whether the Avatar or the entity is meant.
- Yoxotot, Jaxotop and Jock Sotot may be one name or several things.
Open questions
- What the closing of the world and the cosmic ruling are, and who can make them.
- Whether the Avatar is autonomous, destructible or one of several, or a third channel of entry.
- What “the possibles” are; the gem’s role; its rank among the other forces.
