Tres Arroyos is a city 500 km from Buenos Aires and 70 km from the coast, known as «la cuna de los cóndores» (“the cradle of the condors”). Larger than the other towns of the area, it holds the region’s hospital, casino and union.

| Spanish entry | Tres Arroyos |
Description
Wheat fields lie between the city and the coast. Its fixed pair is Claromecó, the beach resort 70 km away: ambulances leave for Tres Arroyos because the hospital is there, metalworkers go up for the union, and those who want to play canasta go to the casino. “The Tres Arroyos area” also names the wider fields, roads and coast.
The hospital has an ambulance service and is the only one in the area.
The union house
Tres Arroyos “runs the main union of the CGT”. The office of the Unión Obrera Metropolitana (UOM) is not an administrative building but “a relatively humble house” with a desk area and study. It is closed, with arabesque windows and gates, and access is watched: “it is not easy to get out or in there with those windows”.
Dardo Cabo
The city is where Dardo Cabo, “the main guy who organized the kidnapping of the girl”, came from.
Open questions
- Who the condors are, and whether the epithet relates to Dardo Cabo and the kidnapping, is not stated.
- Whether the 70 km “from the coast” and the 70 km “to Claromecó” are the same measure is unclear.
- Why the UOM house is fortified and who its delegate is are not recorded; the city’s layout is not described.
- Records mention another “arroyo” with a house and a little bridge “toward the side opposite the lighthouse”; its jurisdiction is unresolved.
- Whether the city actually has three streams is unknown.
