SSK is a name borne by two things in the New World: a seventy-year-old woman who once worked for the Genesis Foundation, and a row of turrets installed by that same foundation. Whether the shared name is coincidence or a link is not recorded.

The woman
SSK is seventy years old but does not look it. She is “a bald Black woman, but with very long fuchsia dreadlocks”, very muscular, “almost a bodybuilder”. She is a former boxer and a sex worker.
She dresses entirely in leather slashed so that parts of her muscles show, and wears many jewels. At her waist she carries “a whip of a strange metal with a monofilament”.
She worked at the Genesis Foundation. She now declares “some relationship” with Rijel Betta and belongs to his faction.
The turrets
The Genesis Foundation has installed “a series of strange things that are like half-Tesla turrets”. Their nature is disputed: some say they are death machines firing photon rays; others say they are telescopes or a science experiment.
