Description

“A languid type, thin but tall”, with Slavic features and a simple forester’s suit. His body is finely tuned, “straight out of Jason Bourne”: he knows, given the temperature, how far he can run without losing rhythm and how much his pulse will rise. He has no accent, but “the cadence of his language is strange”, the one flaw in his cover.

Mission

The Foundation post is his way in. His task is to gather more information and sleep until “these trigger-happy American guys of the Genesis Foundation” go straight for the caverns, attack and weaken themselves; then the Russians move in. His Soviet chain of command is far from the field. A dimensional vision serves him as a compass; it “crossed him onto the right path.”

Conflicting accounts

  • “Soviet agent from East Germany” in one account, “Russian agent” in another: an East German serving Moscow or a Russian posted to East Germany.

Open questions

  • What the dimensional vision is, its limits, and whether others have it.
  • What paranormal activity was detected, and whether he shares it.
  • When he was sent; the record itself doubts.
  • His rank and superior at the Foundation, and how his information reaches his handlers.
  • The phrase “Y carnal, es para el momento justo” is garbled.
  • What the “caverns of negros infecundos” are, and why the Foundation will attack them.
