Platform 66 is an underground train platform in Iron Mountain, lit by colored bulbs and engraved with runes, from which a train departs on the night of the eclipse. It is not yet fully active and is contaminated by demons: “This platform is contaminated; we have to find the source of those demons and clean it.”

Description
The chamber pulses with color, like “the old discos that had whole rooms full of bulb lights of different tones”, bulbs switching on and off across the whole room. The floor is “all engraved”, with “some runes driven in, strong and intense”. Healing there is intense. The train departs from it.
There are at least sixty-six numbered platforms. This one “will not activate fully for another two weeks”, and its demonic contamination has a source that can be found.
Role
“Platform 66, that’s why it is a station”: a whole movement of people is organized around it, with many to be brought underground, boarded and taken out. Some are already there “leaving”; others are still pending (“And those who haven’t reached Platform 66? / Not yet”).
In this context of departure, on the night of the eclipse, Red Cup is also named. “They sent Redcap and Render” to the platform; the mission is not explained.
Other platforms
The records mention other platforms, kept separate here:
- one suspended in the caverns, “by those hanging chains”;
- an iron platform in the Indian cemetery that serves as an altar “but bigger”, at first with nothing on it;
- a wooden platform the messenger rides on;
- a platform marked D1, reached by the rising tunnel.
All seem part of a larger system, the Game of the Platforms.
Open questions
- Whether Platform 66, D1 and the iron, suspended and wooden platforms are linked or the same circuit.
- What activating “fully” means, and where the train goes.
- How many platforms there are, and what the Game of the Platforms is as a system.
- Whether Red Cup and Redcap are one entity under two spellings or two.
- The source of the demons and how a platform is cleansed; what the runes say and why healing is intense there.
- The platform’s size, capacity and depth are not recorded.
