History

He “gave up being one of the superheroes”; in Megapolis it is told: “He said no, no, no. He left my condition.” This preceded his presidency and shows that on Earth-212 a superhero can abdicate into civil power.

Coercion

“Confidential and compromising information” is directed at him. One member of the company read it as “the extortion material they have to keep him in their pocket”: corporations controlling him rather than toppling him. That reading is a companion’s; the established fact is that the material exists and targets him. His presence is marginal, but any move on him moves Earth-212’s whole government.

Other doctors

Similar titles are treated separately, not identified with Monroe:

  • Doctor Taurus, old enemy of Olympus, “a creation I learned to deactivate”, tied to the organization The Labyrinth and “minotaur stories”.
  • Doctor Trench, a time traveler with “a cyclone with a pocket dimension to take things out”.
  • Doctor Cripto, a minor captured figure linked to security or cryptography.
  • Doctor Metropolis, who is dead, named in the same context with no link to Monroe.
