Danny De Sirio is a seventeen-year-old high-school student, the school’s “problem kid” and “sort of a leader”, and one of the companions of his gesta. He carries a fake ID claiming he is twenty-one and treasures his car.

Description
At school he holds half-leader standing; for the adult world he has the fake ID. Someone close to him dismisses him: “He’s a seventeen-year-old kid; kids say nonsense.”
His car is “his great jewel”; its make, color and year are not recorded.
Family
He does not get along at all with his stepfather, who stole his car. Danny returns to the house when he knows the adults will be away, which is often: on weekends his mother goes “to a house in the country”, and she and the stepfather are placed in Upstate, Horton Bay, “on the yacht of some family friends”. Whether the country house and Upstate are the same place is not settled.
