The coinage system of Uchronic Paris has three denominations:
- Francs: gold coins, the base value.
- Luises: platinum coins, the higher value.
- Centésimos (Centesimos): copper or silver coins, the lower value.
In use
- A line of dialogue states: the francs are the gold coins, and a Luis is a platinum coin.
- Iriarte offers 500 gold francs for an investigation of “the Serpent” in the Archive.
- Time is also “currency”: the cronoboys (“chronoboys”) and cronoputas (“chrono-prostitutes”) trade time for services.
- Workers earn little. Claude distributes 500 francs to fund a workers’ strike, a significant sum for the working class.
