Rolando is a captain of knights, second in command, possibly a reference to Roland of the historical Song of Roland. He is a confirmed ally and travels with Carlos at the end of the astral incursion.

- Armor: the shield Durandal, named for Roland’s legendary sword, a deliberate anachronism.
- Role: secondary diplomat and negotiator of details.
- Request: at the reunion in the astral incursion, he asks for “Roland’s horn”, an artifact previously offered and taken up again at the close of the incursion.
