The Captured Refugees are captives found in the labyrinth, an estimated several dozen in all. They are the object of the rescue and the moral justification for the incursion into the labyrinth.

  • They groan and sob.
  • They are damaged by privation: fatigue, hunger and lack of sleep.
  • They carry a “fleece” or goatskin on their backs, a mark of ownership or slavery.
  • One mentions being a “fisherwoman”, an identity of origin.
  • Some recognize their rescuers; the earlier connection is not explained.

After the combat with the Cyclops, Lirio / Michel orders them to follow the thread toward the exit.
