Description
He wears a vest and has a scar high on his cheek. He moves in what his own people call el mundo de lampa, the Buenos Aires underworld where favors that appear in no register are bought and sold. He is the criminal contact of Dulce.
Services and warning
He obtains false license plates for the stolen Citroën the group travels in. With the favor comes a warning: the right-wing lodge, a power brotherhood operating in the shadows of the country, is looking for Dulce. A debt is pending: she must bring “the change” owed for the package she delivered.
The mule
Piluso organized putting Antonio on the Operativo Cóndor plane as a mule: the flight that eighteen militants diverted to the Malvinas at midnight on 28 September 1966. Antonio boards carrying, without fully knowing it, a package on commission. From that commission begins the broken sailor’s descent toward what sleeps beneath the islands. Piluso is thus the hinge between the Buenos Aires underworld and the cult plot waiting across the South Atlantic, apparently unaware of what he sets in motion.
The name “Piluso” sounds like a deformation of el iluso (“the dupe”).
