The Pantheon (Location) is an ancient structure with Roman and early Etruscan ruins in Uchronic Paris, near Montparnasse. It is distinct from The Pantheon, the group of heroes.
Description
- Archaeological excavations began about a month earlier. Elevators descend to the ruins.
- A fossilized mollusk, the Shell of Venus, from an earlier geological era, has been found.
- A strange amphitheater holds sculptural figures.
- The lower part has collapsed, possibly an effect of large explosions twelve years ago (“out of phase”), possibly the event of 1901 or a related one.
- A local legend holds that Paris was founded by the Trojan hero Paris, who escaped Troy and wore a Phrygian cap.
- The zone is guarded, with wood and metal scaffolding and high underground temperatures. The excavations are an open secret: workers and passersby know, but surveillance continues.
A later trip led to the catacombs, in an investigation of the vice-consul’s Etruscan ancestor.
