Naples is a city and kingdom of southern Italy, one of the four most influential cities of Italy along with Milan, Florence and Genoa. The warning from the heavens names it among the cities covered by the mantle of darkness, though it was meant to be a propeller of light.

The war
Naples is the pretext of the war: the French king descends to claim it as heir of Anjou, while the old Ferrante schemes alongside the Pope and his son Alfonso is left in charge. The Aragonese wife of the heir of Milan came from this house, the Neapolitan half of Romeo and Juliet.
The war runs through the Invisible Cities chronicle.
