The window is a link between worlds in Ardis Vala: people in worlds that do not touch are bound to it. Through it Adam made the greatest wish of the gesta (campaign-cycle): that the bound remember why they are here.

Nature

Where it is and who opened it are unstated. The bound neither know one another nor which side they look from. In the gem-world of Vala Cristalis (1,200,000 souls, veiled by layers and platforms), it is how the layers become visible.

Adam’s wish

Prepared over weeks (a badly worded wish is collected in the fine print), it asked not for power, exit, revenge or gold, but memory:

«Deseo que todos nosotros, quienes estamos vinculados a la ventana, recordemos por qué estamos acá» (“I wish that all of us bound to the window remember why we are here”)

It changed what the bound know, not the world, and went wrong for no one.

Aftermath

  • Memory returned; the bound converged. Adam, now Adam Auroarian, remembered the stolen diamond and his link to the archdemon of madness, power and rejection.
  • Earlier he had recalled his defining scene: a serpent, not evil, come from the mountain, settler of knowledge, offered the truth; he refused the fruit, Adam’s apple. He had chosen not to know.
  • Then he left, uncaptured and unredeemed, taking his companion, as he could not be alone: by train, to see whether he could leave all the worlds. Whether it arrived is unknown.
  • The Seekers stayed below.
