The Moon (La Luna) is the cosmic destination of the Flying Dutchman. It has a consciousness of its own and a tree of its own, petrified and mineralized. It is the place of Idaho’s reincarnation as a Triaxian.
A giant worm consumes the tree from within, so the Moon is at once a space of renewal and a cosmic threat. It is described as “like a gruyère cheese,” riddled with the worm’s tunnels; see Moon Worm.
It is first revealed as a destination, then appears in the boarding of the Dutchman on the Moon (the reincarnation, post-credits scenes). Related: Medawin.
