The Goliath (Goliath in the English nomenclature of the source corpus, Goliat in the group’s) is a reinforced armored truck delivered by the Genesis Foundation to the seekers of the Gary cycle.

Description

Plate 72-19; military-style armored chassis; hand-operated rotating turret with machine gun; four headlights (two front, amber, two side); GOLIATH stenciled in white on the flank. A reinforced rear compartment held the Containment Circle seal with which the group trapped Graz’zt.

Function: long-distance group transport, and deployment platform for the robot HG, which enters and leaves by the rear hatch and operates anchored to the chassis when needed.

Origin and performance

Civilian Foundation production, reinforced afterward by Clara Kling and Richard Bentham, the two platform guardians the group met in the Crystal Tower. The modifications appear in no manual. Recorded performance: limited but constant speed; resistance to light fire; six days of autonomy without recharge; nine fighters packed in, or five with HG folded. Iron Mountain is the fleet’s major destination.

History

  • Delivered by the Foundation in the middle phase of the New World; used on Midwest runs with HG aboard; logistics platform for the Graz’zt seal.
  • Last documented operation: the assault on the Russian camp, ending in the non-combatant surrender of Dimitri Ivanov and the capture of three more officers. The truck stayed two hundred paces from the bivouac, lights off, engine idling; the group went in on foot, surprising the Soviet detachment, used to the mechanical fanfare of the standard invader.
