Torchavento (Farchavento) is a wind demon of the Malebranche doctrine who acts by negotiation, an intermediary at the Castle of Siegling.

TypeEntity (wind demon)
Spanish entryTorchavento — el demonio del viento Malebranche

Description

Decadian gloss calls him “the Malebranche of the wind”; the company calls him Torchavento. His body is solid at the center and cloud at the edges, with clawed hands and a face oscillating between threat and curiosity. He floats over the Castle’s terraces, hands extended in a negotiating posture, conversing with the company below.

Role

Unlike fire and water demons, who act by direct violence, he acts by word: he proposes, evaluates and withdraws if talks stall. He is not benevolent but patient, and his patience has a price: whoever negotiates with him ends up owing more than expected.

At the Castle, a Sadean libertine geography of the extended cosmos, he mediates between the Financier (Financier Dulcet, with whom he cooperates) and the company, between the condemned and the newcomers, and between the curious positive pole and the established negative pole. Negotiating with him is risky but sometimes the only way. He operates continuously in the present cycle (1824 AE), with documented negotiations with the company.
