The Demonomicon of Truenames is a great bound grimoire of the True Names of demons, to which successive centuries added names.

Description

It lies on a stone table, open to the page of the True Names of Graz’zt (Graz’zt) in five historical scripts:

  • Sumerian cuneiform (c. 2500 BC)
  • Coptic (c. 4th century)
  • Latin, GRASTVS (c. 13th century)
  • Arabic, Gräst (c. 14th century)
  • modern, GRAST

A small engraving of the demon sits in the margin, with five candles around the book. The inscription at the foot reads Nomen verum est potentia. Qui terret nomen, terret eum (“The true name is power. Whoever terrifies the name terrifies him”).

Use

The archmage Iggwilf used the Truenames to seal Graz’zt in Iron Mountain. They operated during the eclipse of 14 April in Gary, the New World.
