The star knights of Aries are seven guardians who confronted the travelers at the Threshold of Aries in the SGL chronicle. Their bodies and blades formed a single threat: losing a sword did not leave them harmless.

The seven
- Difda, the Ram of the Shipwreck. The words of the first to fall left a castaway, a rescue owed and the name Markab.
- Algenib, the Dishonored Wing. Advanced among the five of the first line.
- Alpheratz, the Chained Liberator. Her figure of chains fought Lirio; her last words touched on the promise of freedom.
- Baten Kaitos, the Belly of the Whale. Held the confrontation with Lem.
- Al Pherg, the Guardian of the Wait. Closed the first line of five.
- Vertex, the Gaze of Andromeda. Waited behind and entered when the duels blended. Dandy disarmed him by a ruse, but he could keep attacking with the blades of his body. He spoke of possible destinies whose outcome he could not see.
- Mirach, the Iron Mercy. Stayed at first in the rear with Vertex, then joined the fight.
All seven were defeated, and their niches left treasures for the survivors.
Open questions
- The phrases about rescues, chains and futures are remnants of stories the travelers have not yet reconstructed.
- Meeting these guardians does not reveal the whole order, its origin or the secret of its sovereign.
