Atrox is the name the records give to one of the two presences that cohabit Nancon in Vala, the colder of the two.
Nature
- When Atrox takes control, Nancon becomes calculating: the rage does not vanish but is ordered and sharpened into an instrument of precision. Those who have seen him speak of eyes that measure before acting and a barely perceptible delay between impulse and blow.
- The other mode is the “young child of the void” (joven niño del vacío), more instinctive and closer to pure frenzy and speech in aclo.
- The two alternate in Nancon like two hands of the same body. Neither is the base Nancon; together they constitute him fully.
- The name Atrox means “atrocious, cruel and terrible” in the ancient languages.
Conflicting accounts
The annals of Vala do not agree on what Atrox is:
- An entity that resides in Nancon.
- A part of himself that took its own name.
- Something brought from outside, a fragment attached during a passage through the pinnacle of shadows or the territories of the threshold that aclo frequents.
