Almada, the “mistress of life” (la maestra de la vida), is a natural entity of Arborea, three meters tall and tentacular. The grass itself gives way as she passes. She dwells inland, east of the feast hill.

The rite
She performs the rite of dying and being reborn with another essence, one companion per day, one at a time. Under her hand the flesh dries into autumn leaves and she absorbs the remains. On the other side, the one who died returns with a new nature.
Dealings with the Libertateurs
La Plume and the Libertateurs went to her in order to re-enter Antiterra transfigured as celestials, a front-line force and a cancer to demons. The price was one miracle per head and the Belt of Fallen Heroes. La Plume demanded to die pierced by his own sword, his wife dead two centuries, and his turn remained pending.
