The Valley of Dusk (Valle del Ocaso), apparently also called the Valley of Death, is a large area beyond the forests holding the cursed ruins of a city, where a camp gathered to conjure dreadful beings. It was later declared cleansed.

Description

The valley is a “fairly large environment” of forests and waterfalls whose noise is heard from afar. Inside lies first a band of mist with “structures in a taut ocher vapor that look like melted faces”, then an open esplanade with monoliths.

The valley was once a city. Its cursed ruins remain—worked stone and grave slabs, like “the ruins of Palmyra or that kind of place of cursed cities”—with a whole sector of many buildings. Another description speaks of “a valley of dusk with black walls, roof”.

The camp

A camp was set over the dead city, with tents surrounding the central structures. The center consists of “a large pyramid with three statues”, the monoliths, and “a basin with a liquid whose reflection seems very familiar”, a marbling liquid. In the valley “they are conjuring dreadful beings” to cause destruction aimed at an organization outside it.

Fate

The valley held “the dangers there were in the valley of death”, among them petrified people, whose reversal was requested. Later it was declared that “the valley is cleansed”.

Open questions

  • That the Valley of Dusk and the Valley of Death are one place is suggested by context but not declared.
  • Who conjures the beings, who sleeps in the tents, and which organization is targeted are unknown.
  • Whether the petrified people belong to the city’s ancient fall or to the present camp is unknown.
  • What the cleansing consisted of, what cursed the city, and when it fell are not recorded.
  • Whether the black walls and roof are a building, an entrance or the valley itself is unresolved.
  • The entrance and the valley’s position relative to other regions are unknown, beyond “beyond the forests”; the melted faces remain unexplained.
