The Cube of Force is a conjured enclosure of shaped force: a closed cubic volume raised where needed and dissolved afterward. It blocks attacks and repels matter, but magic passes through it.
| Type | Conjuration |
| Spanish entry | Cubo de Fuerza |
Description
It is neither metal nor stone but a force field given the shape of a cube. It is a conjurer’s resource, made, activated and deactivated, often raised again and again along the same road “just in case”. The effect itself tells the conjurer its terms: “it tells you”.
Configurations
The conjurer chooses among separate functions:
- Repulsion, used as a precaution: it stops “all gases, wind, non-living matter and the living maker”.
- Biotic selection: “I activate everything biotic in the place except magical abilities”.
Limitation
Magic passes through it, in every known configuration, and no adjustment remedies this. In a world where forces “not foreign to magic” are “pulling the strings” of events, it shelters from gas, wind and iron but not from that enemy. Whoever is still reached inside it learns that the threat is supernatural.
Related conjurations
Its portable kin is the sword of force: “a double-edged sword… but instead of [metal] a force field”, the weapon of a god, carried by a companion. Both give force a surface that sorts what crosses it, and neither touches the magical.
Not to be confused with
Other records use fuerza (“force”) for the revolutionary forces against the Russian regime; disguised forces that “pass themselves off as the people you trust most”; invading riders who sought the secret of the Mirror; the troops at the siege of Paris; the Devils as “the form of original sin”; and the forces “pulling the strings” of History. Their figures (troops in hundreds of thousands, riders in “hundreds or thousands”) do not belong to the Cube.
Conflicting accounts
- One configuration repels non-living matter; the other acts on the biotic. Which is the base form is unresolved.
Open questions
- Its size, capacity, duration and cost.
- Whether it is a carried object or a pure spell, and if an object, its material.
- What the living maker is.
- What exactly the Cube tells its conjurer.
- Who can make it, and whether it is linked to the god whose sword shares its substance.
