The Tyger Tavern is a tavern with a low ceiling, overlapping timbers and inscriptions on the tables. Beer is served in a full mug, filled to the brim, with one more mark on the tab.

The name echoes William Blake’s Tyger Tyger, burning bright. Monsieur Marot is the first face to approach, between the tables. The fragment is a beginning: the wooden door through which a gesta (campaign-cycle) of the French cycle of Les Libertateurs entered its first scene.
