Pavura — Fear — is a green dragon that guarded the forest serving as a portal in Florenzen (1300); it spared the companions, showed them how to defeat Masaccio, and died.

Description
It appeared as a figure with laurels at its sides and a green hood, and earlier as a cat — a night panther, the greatest predator of the jungle. It is a combined monster: wolf’s jaws, feline claws, bat wings. It is also called “grandson of grandsons of one Sebastián”. “We all have a drama inside.”
History
It claimed to serve the queen of darkness — Tiamat, as she is called hereabouts — and said the companions served her too without knowing it. They answered that they had nearly gone down to Death, and when death comes there is no more fear: does Fear die? It concluded they understood nothing, yet chose to trust them. It warned that the devils awaited them at the gates — Masaccio, as he now calls himself, with two others, one in panther skin and one in lion skin, Occhio and Malocchio — counting on Pavura to hand them over.
It did not. It showed them how to beat Masaccio, its old enemy, and so they settled in the Nobiskrug. Then it died. Imitating its voice to deceive the red dragon was considered and dropped: the red one is more intelligent, has superior senses, and had already felt its brother fall; it nests at the Horns of Hattin.
Name
