Monsignor Leapé is a hierarch of the Inquisition at Notre Dame in Paris, a puppeteer of the pardon-as-trap. He operates at the heart of the ecclesiastical and penal power of Paris, in the same network of platforms, hosts and pacts.

He orchestrated the public retraction of the Great Executioner, Monsieur David, before the cathedral, not as an act of mercy but as bait: an observation trap laid on the square to see who came forward for redemption. True to his method, he “se desembaraza” (“gets rid of”) spent instruments, executioners included, discarding them as soon as they stop serving him.
